Lance Mosley

Lance Mosley

Director of Bands

Lance Mosley joined the Mann Band Staff as Director of Bands in 2023. Prior to gaining the position at Mann, Mr. Mosley was the Associate Director of Bands at Clack Middle School, and even earlier as the Associate Director of Bands at Lake View High School in San Angelo. During his ten years of teaching bands under his direction have recieved multiple UIL “Sweepstakes” awards as well as recognition from contests all over the naition. 

Mr. Mosley is an alumni of both Mann Middle School and Abilene High School where he marched in the award winning Abilene High Marching Band “The Oldest Marching Band in Texas” Mr. Mosley then went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from McMurry University and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Tarleton State University. 

Mr. Mosley lives in Abilene, and enjoys going out to eat with his family, gardening, and binge watching nostalgic 90’s TV shows. 

Emma Hoover

Emma Hoover

Associate Director of Bands

Emma Hoover joined the Mann Band Staff as Associate Director of Bands in 2019. Prior to gaining the position at Mann, Ms. Hoover was a private bassoon instructor in Keller ISD,  a member of the East Texas Chamber Winds, and an active performer with the Longview Symphony Orchestra during the 16/17 and the 17/18 Seasons. 

Ms. Hoover is a graduate of Keller High School where she gained membership in both the All Region and All Area Bands and marched cymbals on the Keller High School Drumline. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with her Bachelor of Music Degree with a minor in German. During her time at SFA, Ms. Hoover participated in numerous ensembles and was named co-principal bassoon and eventually principal of the SFA Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony and the Orchestra of the Pines. Ms. Hoover was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel and perform  with the SFA Wind Ensemble at their prestigious Texas Music Educators Associations Invited Performance in 2017.

Ms. Hoover’s professional affiliations include Pi Kappa Lambda and the Texas Music Educators Association. 

Ms. Hoover lives in Abilene with her dogs Chewie and Nina. She enjoys baking, knitting, staying active through Yoga and Jiu-Jitsu, and her new role of being an aunt! 

Alanna Curley

Alanna Curley

Associate Director of Bands, Abilene High School / Mann MS Beginning Clarinet

Alanna Curley joined the Abilene High School Band staff as Associate Director of Bands in 2021. Prior to gaining her position at AHS, Ms. Curley served as Associate Director of Bands at Craig Middle School in Abilene, TX. She graduated with honors from Abilene Christian University with her Bachelor of Music. During her time at ACU, she was a member of various university ensembles including principal clarinet of the Civic Orchestra of Abilene and the ACU Wind Ensemble for four years. She also had the pleasure of serving as Vice President of the Big Purple Marching Band for ACU. Prior to moving to Abilene, Ms. Curley graduated from Flower Mound High School in 2015. She is a member of several professional organisations including TMEA, TCTA, ICA, and Mu Phi Epsilon. While not at school, Ms. Curley enjoys traveling, hiking, lots of coffee, and games nights with loved ones.

Juan Montoya

Juan Montoya

Associate Director of Bands/Northside Percussion Director, Abilene High School

Juan Montoya joined the band staff at Abilene High in 2023 as the North Side percussion coordinator. Mr Montoya will be teaching drumline, steel band, and assist with the beginner percussion classes at both Mann Middle School.

Mr. Montoya graduated from West Texas A&M University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. During his time at West Texas A&M, he was part of the WTAMU Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Band. 

Mr. Montoya has been awarded many distinguished awards including the John Phillip Sousa Award, the Gary and Mariellen Garner Music Scholarship, and the Paula Jane Mill Memorial Scholarship. He is a member of the Texas Music Educator’s Association, the Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha.

In his free time Mr. Montoya enjoys hiking, traveling, taking care of his plants, and spending time with his fiancè and thier two dogs, Buddy and Luna.
